rom yoga poses to sisters, Claudia Tremblay is able to capture the gentleness and grace of the human form in watercolors. The women and children she portrays in her artwork create a sense of tranquility and wonderment at the same time.
I asked Claudia Tremblay if she would share the story behind her stunning artwork. She took the time to answer a few of my questions. Enjoy her story!
Tell us a bit about you and your shop.
I own ClaudiaTremblay shop on Etsy, which is named after me. I started painting a long time ago, but only opened my shop in 2011. Before that I was in Guatemala for 14 years and did not know about Etsy. I now live in Montréal, Canada.
What inspires you to create?
My favorite subjects to paint are portraits, and mother and children from all over the world.
I also like to illustrate yoga scenes because I am mesmerized by the beauty and elegance of the body while performing yoga. I have practiced yoga on and off since I was 19 and I can only say my life is all around better when I do! I find the process of painting very similar to the process of yoga… forgiving yourself, accepting where you are, not judging yourself, being kind. Loving the process more than the results! This is an important one! It also makes me really calm when I paint yoga poses, as if I remember to breathe better, and to stay in the present.
What are your favorite materials?
I love to paint on thick watercolor paper, canvas and wood! I love switching from painting to painting. I alternate between watercolor and acrylics.
